Tye’s recap. 2 minutes 34.

The first School of the Hard Knocks, at Crispy Cuts in Randolph. Here is how it went, in Tye’s words.

One of the best Chair Conversations we had

“Today, without a doubt, was one of the best Chair Conversations we had. We went all the way to the South Shore, to the town of Randolph, Crispy Cuts. Shout out to the owner, Manny, opened the doors and said, Tye, let’s do it.”

“We created a holistic environment. I mean, we had music, we celebrated a birthday, we had great, great, great conversation.”

A mentor in the room

“We started out from the school of the hard knock. We had OG come in the room, bringing in a young man that he is mentoring and working with, B.B. McClain. OG is Willie Carrington.”

“And they came in and just discussed, broke down addiction, the challenges that they had inside of their life. And then the opportunity for an older gentleman to mentor a younger gentleman, and to give him the opportunity to use his talents for a generation, for his generation.”

“And so we love that inside the room.”

It takes a village

“The whole concept of the Chair Conversation is, it takes a village to raise a child.”

“We want to create holistic environments where healing can flow, where people can come in feeling one way and come out feeling another way, to create connection.”

Above the conversation

“Above just the conversation is the opportunity. Opportunity to connect people in these trusted environments, where people wouldn’t ordinarily connect, period. And then is the infrastructure.”

  1. 1The conversation“Above just the conversation…”
  2. 2Opportunity“Find jobs, employment.”
  3. 3Connection“In these trusted environments.”
  4. 4Infrastructure“The infrastructure of connectivity.”
  5. →Cohesiveness
What sits under the Chair Conversations, in Tye’s words.

“We have thousands of organizations, thousands of treatment organizations, but the one thing that’s missing is cohesiveness. Underneath the Chair Conversations is the infrastructure of connectivity that makes cohesiveness possible.”

“So we just learned a lot today.”
